Prof. József Baranyi is a Mathematician, research leader. Expertise: modelling microbial responses to food environments. Author or co-author of >70 refereed research papers, with > 3000 citations in total. Invited and keynote speaker, scientific committee member in numerous international conferences; has coordinated in several projects funded by UK government, EU and industry. Invited expert on UK and EC projects and panels. Held >60 predictive microbiology workshops all around the world. Statistical advisor of Journal of Applied Microbiology 1996 – 2010. Member of the Editorial Board of Applied and Environmental Microbiology since 1998. Editor, BMC Microbial Informatics and Experimentation, since 2010. His mathematical model on bacterial growth is one of the most frequently quoted models in predictive microbiology. Co-funder of the ComBase Consortium, 2003.
